This content will be migrated into this site for central access, improved searching, direct links to the things that you care about and want easy access to.

No. There is not a global ELR Organization in place. ELRhq is endeavoring to provide structure and recognition across all participating Match Directors. At the moment, over 60 Matches in the United Sets will be operating under the Safety First Tactical ELRhq 2023 ELR Harmonized USA Ruleset.

We look to have another 20-30 matches start up in the USA in 2024 using the same ruleset.

That’s a great question. So far, data collection, data analysis, global annual rankings, and a whole host of other information has been available for free. Services have been provided for free, etc…
ELRhq would like to build out additional services and benefits to help grow ELR. Building out a website, building out offerings, awards, and benefits all have costs associated with them. Without a centralized organization, this requires member, partner, and sponsor funding.

ELRhq was originally formed by McMillan Stocks to help Extreme Long Range competitors find champion tested and vetted equipment. While it will still help provide that information, ELRhq is going to be focused on providing value and recognition to the participants, Match Directors, and sponsors.

As we look to set a definition of ELR, it might be good to look at how other "Definitions" have been made. How are other "Range" categories defined?

MR = Mid-range
LR = Long Range
ULR = Ultimate Long Range?
ELR = Extreme Long Range

By rules -
MR - (600 yards) HighPower, F-Class (Std. targets)
LR - (800-1000) HighPower, F-Class (1000) (Std. targets)
ELR - (1500+), NRA, ELR Central, Spearpoint (Std. targets 36" sq)
ELR 22 - (250+) ELR Central (Std. targets - 12" sq)

For ELRhq, we define it as follows -
ELR Heavy - 1500yds+
ELR Light - 900yds+
ELR22 - 250yds+

ELR Heavy -
Calibers above .338 in diameter, with a weight restriction of up to 50 pounds

ELR Light -
Calibers .338 or below in diameter, with a weight restriction of up to 26 pounds.

ELR22 -
Calibers are restricted to 22LR only. No magnums, or any other rimfire calibers.
Production ammo or copper solids are allowed.
